FORD V8 VICTORIA POLICE CAR


FORD exported motor cars to Australia from the USA in 1904 in 1909 via Canada to minimise tax since the turn of the century assembly and distributors were all over Australia the result was poor quality control So in 1926 Henry Ford chose Geelong Victoria as the site to build the T model Ford it would take around 6 years to complete the massive manufactory to build a better product In as a temporary assembly plant in a disused Dalgety wool store Ford started to build the cars Henry Ford worked persistantly in the Ford United States of America plant to build a V8 after so many attempts In 1932 success the V8 was ready Ford started producing all steel cars prior to this wagon coach builders were still using wood Victoria Police used mainly Daimler for police patrols some even V12 One of if not first FORD acquision was in 1934 a Ford V8 Tourer used on country roads then in 1936 we know of 16 V8 coupes then a further 8 V8 COUPES Ford Tudors in 1937
