Mid 1972 200 Bathurst HO special commenced production 1st on June the 16th as a rule there are about a dozen or so pilot cars in the run to fine tune the mass production run before the allocated orders are built .. an official Ford dealers bulletin was dispatched on the 20th of June stating the FALCON GT-HO PHASE 4 is now in production - What ever happened after that remains cloudy Ford was to produce 100 GT-HO 4 in JUNE & 100 in June the 30th GMH officially axed the LJ Torana V8 XU 2 it was dead when US GM by accident learned that Holden were racing cars despite a world wide ban on racing by GM JULY 1972. On July 1st 1972 Ford put a hold on the production pending further consultation
Despite popular belief the GT HO 4 was not officially dead until the production schedule dates expired
